The Scarlet Ibis by James Hurst is mainly comparing a scarlet ibis with a young boy named Doodle. It shows a symbolism with the bird and the kid because is about this young boy remembering and telling a story about his younger brother. When his younger brother was born everyone thought he wouldn't survive because he was born with a big head and a tiny body and red and shriveled like an old man. His dad even made him a coffin. The boy named his younger brother "Doodle" because he crawled backwards like a doodlebug. But he was ashamed of his little brother because his little brother was different and couldn't even walk so he decided to teach him so he wouldn't be so ashamed to be with doodle. Doodle learn how to walk. One day n there yard they heard this weird noise and when they looked outside they saw a scarlet ibis falling from their bleeding tree and it was big and red and bloody. Doodle decided to bury it. After that doodle brother wanted to teach doodle
